We are specially thankful to Mrs. Farzana
Farooq for taking the trouble of making the arduous journey in a crammed 12
seater coach from Karachi to Rashidabad and back in sizzling summer of Sindh to
attend the function.
The entourage of the Chief Minister
included the Education Minister, MPA, Distt Nazim of the area and the Secretary
Education (Sindh) besides many other senior officers of the Sindh
Government and District administration of Hyderabad.
ACM Farooq Feroze Khan gave introduction
about the project and its progress, since November 2002. This was followed by a
detailed power point presentation by Dr. Amanullah Khan.
The Chief Guest Mr. Ali Muhammad Mahar
after the presentation very kindly announced a donation of Rs. 50 million to
SST and thanked the SST for starting its maiden project in rural Sindh.
“Heartiest
congratulations to SST, special thanks
to Lt. Gen. Ehsan ul Haq and Mr. Tasneem Noorani for pursuing the case with the
concerned authorities and to our chairman and Aman for giving such an excellent
presentation.”
On the second day i.e. 4th
May, the team attended a dinner hosted by Mr. Shahabuddin (317-F) of Karachi
chapter at Marina Club. Dignitaries of Karachi including Mr. Ardshir Cowasjee,
Amin Dadabhai, Naval Executives, Chairman Steel Mills Col Afzal, attended the
dinner. The Chairmen Steel Mills and KPT promised donation of Rs. 10 million
each and others announced Rs. 2 million.
On third day i.e. 5th May a
presentation was given to Mrs. Anita Ghulam Ali, the Chairperson of Sindh
Education Foundation, who also promised donation of Rs. 10 million.
Indeed it was a very fruitful visit to
Karachi – a joint effort by all chapters. One very important point must be
noted carefully that the Government of Sindh who have been very generous,
expect all sargodhians to make generous contribution to make a truly
participatory effort. I am sure many
have already contributed but those who have not done so, must try and send
their contributions at the earliest.
The pace of construction work is so
encouraging that by December 2003, the structure of all buildings would be
ready. Hats off to Air. Cdre (Retd) Shabbir and Haji Farid (Contractor) for the
excellent work being done by them.
When you visit Sargodha School for the Golden Jubilee Celebration during 2nd
week of October 2003, hopefully, you will keep a few days in hand to visit the
project at Tando Allahyar. Remember we need every SARGODHIAN to pay an
affordable amount to SST Project and be proud to be a participant. For every
one who contributes over Rs. 50,000/-, there will be a Name Plate put up on the
special wall being built infront of the
school.
Given below is a news published on the
